Bigfoot, Mothman, and Me...

This past weekend took me somewhere I never expected to be... reading at Carolina Cryptidfest in Raleigh, North Carolina.
I'll admit it—I had absolutely no idea what to expect.
Would it be dark and mysterious? A little spooky? Full of serious researchers discussing Bigfoot, Mothman, UFOs, and the unexplained? Or would it lean more toward fun, humor, and people who simply love a good cryptid story?
The answer?
A little bit of everything.
From the moment I arrived, I realized this wasn't just another event. Angie Taylor, the

organizer, created something truly special. Every detail had been thoughtfully planned, with something for everyone—from fascinating speakers and vendors to an entire area dedicated to kids. It was welcoming, inclusive, and filled with people who simply enjoyed exploring the unknown.
One of the highlights for me was finally meeting someone I'd known for 17 years but had never met in person. Isn't it amazing how life works sometimes? Spirit has a funny way of bringing people together when the timing is right.
As wonderful as the event itself was, the biggest lesson I took home had nothing to do with Bigfoot or Mothman.
It was about saying yes.
Over the last six months, I've been challenging myself to step outside my comfort zone. When I moved to South Carolina, I knew I wanted to grow my business, but I also knew growth wasn't going to happen by staying in the same places and doing the same things.
I've learned that building a business isn't just about posting online or attending the same local fairs. It's about asking yourself some difficult questions.
Where do I belong?
Who are my people?
Where am I meant to serve?
The honest answer is... you don't know until you try.
Every new event teaches me something. Sometimes it's about business. Sometimes it's about the incredible people I meet. Sometimes it's simply a reminder that when you trust your intuition enough to take the leap, the Universe usually meets you there.
Cryptidfest was one of those leaps.
And I'm so glad I took it.
So here's your little reminder from me this week: if something excites you, even if it feels a little outside your comfort zone, give it a chance. You never know what friendships you'll make, what opportunities you'll discover, or what doors Spirit might be opening for you.
As for me, I'll keep saying yes to the adventures—even if they involve Bigfoot and Mothman.
The next few weeks are going to be busy, and I still have a few openings for private readings. If you've been thinking about scheduling a session, I'd love to connect with you. You can book through my website or email me at MelissaWilkisonPsychicMedium@gmail.com.
Until next time...
Peace, love, coffee, and Spirit!
XO,Melissa
